Fun Family Vacations to Northwest Florida

If you enjoy lots of sunshine, beautiful white sandy beaches and incredible emerald green water, then this may be just the perfect family vacation location that you are looking for. Sometimes referred to as Florida’s panhandle, Northwest Florida has some of the top beaches in the world and you could easily spend your entire vacation relaxing and hanging out at the beach, but in addition to fabulous beaches this area has many other fun activities to choose from. Here are just a few places that you may want to consider when visiting the area on your upcoming family vacation.

St. Andrews State Park
Located near Panama City, Florida, St. Andrews is well-known for its clean white sands and emerald green waters. There are over one and a half miles of soft white sandy beaches, and anyone who is interested in fishing will appreciate the two fishing piers, a jetty, and the boat ramp. Full-facility camping is available, along with a concession stand, which offers snacks and fishing amenities. Enjoy kayaking, canoeing, swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving, along with hiking, bird-watching and other activities.

Gulf World Marine Park
Located in Panama City Beach, this fascinating marine park will create memories for the entire family. They offer exciting shows featuring sea lions, dolphins, reptiles and tropical birds. There are many incredible exhibits that showcase a wide range of other interesting marine animals. Make your reservation to swim with the dolphins or become a trainer for a day.

Pirate’s Island Adventure Golf
This is a wonderful mini-golf course that offers two different 18-hole courses. Unlike some courses that have other attractions and rides that may be noisy and distracting, this course offers a very pleasant atmosphere. Also, the waterfalls, caves, and the historical decor provides an atmosphere of a time and place when notorious pirates roamed the seas. This mini-golf course is located in Panama City Beach, along with some of the other attractions mentioned earlier. After enjoying a nice dinner, this may be just the place to go to enjoy a fun round of golf with your family.

Florida Caverns State Park
Located in Marianna, this interesting state park offers stunning formations of limestone stalactites, stalagmites, soda straws, and other formations. It is the only state park in Florida to offer cave tours to the public. In addition to the caverns, this park is also popular for camping, swimming, hiking, canoeing, and horseback riding for equestrian campers.

National Museum of Naval Aviation
Both young and old will enjoy the Naval Aviation Museum located in Pensacola. It includes approximately 150 aircraft, including a number of aircraft that logged missions over Iraq during Operation Desert Storm. Among those aircraft on display is an F-14 Tomcat and the SBD Dauntless. In addition to aircraft, there are more than 4,000 uniforms, plus medals and decorations, flight gear, and weaponry.

Northwest Florida spans an area from Pensacola east to almost Tallahassee and there is no shortage of fun activities, exciting attractions, and fabulous beaches to choose from. This short list mentions just a few ideas that you may want to consider while visiting the area. Florida is a great place to visit and it offers pleasant weather throughout much of the year.
